Moving a storage system, whether mobile or fixed, comes with a long list of steps to complete. Here are 5 that our experts can help you with.
- Adjusting to the dimensions of the new premises
Since it's rare for premises to be identical, your mobile system (shelving on rails or compactus) will probably have to be adjusted or modified to fit the dimensions of the new space.
Depending on the case, you may need to increase or decrease the size of your system, so planning the components to be acquired is essential. Our consultants will work with you to determine the best option to meet your needs while maximizing the recovery of your existing equipment, and if necessary, coordinate the delivery of new components.
- Calculate floor load capacity
In the case of mobile storage systems, it's important to check the capacity of your floors, and it's advisable to have an expert opinion carried out by a specialized firm.
A slab survey is a load calculation. Our team is able to calculate the total load of the planned system once in place, to enable the specialists to carry out their checks. If it can't support it, either the system needs to be altered or the structure reinforced, a project an engineering firm can guide you through.
- Coordinating all stakeholders
For a new construction or renovation project, many different parties need to be involved: contractors, movers, and so on. Good coordination between each of them is essential to ensure a smooth move. This coordination often requires specialized expertise in various construction fields. Our staff has acquired this expertise over 20 years of project experience, and we make it available to you by accompanying you right from the start, and taking over from there by coordinating directly with the parties involved.
For example, for a mobile system, a false floor must be installed and then covered. To achieve this, our team coordinates with your contractor to install the rails, false floor and covering. We can then finalize the installation of your system.
- Confirm access
At the design stage, our team checks building access: use of elevators and docks, permitted hours for noisy work, opening of doors, stairways, etc.
While these may seem like details, it's the kind of information that, if known in advance, will save you a lot of surprises on the big day and at the time of invoicing.
- Content transfer
Not only do we take care of your move, we also offer system content transfer. This turnkey service involves removing files, boxes or other contents from your storage space, then dismantling the system, moving it, reinstalling it, and replacing the contents.
For smaller inventories, we can store the contents of your shelves on our premises. For larger inventories, we entrust storage to a specialized company, and take care of everything from A to Z.
Managing content that needs to be moved from one storage system to another, or from one room to another, is not as straightforward as it might first appear. Do files need to be accessible at all times? Can inventory be stored for a certain period of time? Do archives need updating or repositioning, or can they be replaced as they are? The answers to these questions may reveal needs you hadn't thought of at the outset.
