The history of the Desjardins Group is inseparable from that of modern Quebec. For over a century, the development of its network and the diversification of its activities have accompanied the social and economic growth of Quebec. Today, as one of the largest financial groups in Canada, Desjardins has always remained faithful to the philosophy of its founder: to contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities.
To preserve the organization's legacy, in 1979 the Movement's leaders created the Alphonse-Desjardins Historical Society whose mission is to "safeguard and promote the history and heritage of Desjardins Group and its founder for the benefit of present and future generations". Aware that they were participating in a lasting project, the directors of Desjardins Group have always attached great importance to preserving the traces of its past. The collections held by the Company are the result of a long tradition of conservation.
In 2015, when the movement was looking for a storage solution to modernize its storeroom in order to preserve its archives and thousands of artifacts in a durable and secure solution for decades to come, storage products from Quebec manufacturer Montel proved to be the obvious choice. Raysource and Montel being long-standing partners of Desjardins, the choice was all the more obvious.
The Raysource team therefore worked in collaboration with the company's craftsmen to build a solution that met their needs while adapting to the constraints of the historic building on rue Bégin. To achieve this goal, several products from Quebec manufacturer Montel were selected, including the versatile mobile storage system Mobilexcan shelves Smartshelflong-span shelving 4D and sliding panels for storing paintings.
All in all, dozens of mechanically-assisted mobile trucks Mobilex which have been installed in this state-of-the-art storeroom that has nothing to envy the province's most prestigious establishments. Each cart is equipped with an ergonomic 3-sleeve handle for easy access to each aisle, while allowing many to be moved effortlessly. Inside, virtually all shelves can be customized to suit the user's needs. They adjust in height every 1″, without the need for tools or an installation expert to accommodate larger pieces and optimize space. Several sections feature drawers to help maximize storage capacity.
Adapted picture storage
The company's collection includes many works of art and flat objects that need to be stored in different conditions. That's why we've designed 2 types of picture storage: a sliding panel system and narrow compartment shelving.
First of all, we designed a system with sliding hanging panels which offers an elegant and practical solution while highlighting the works in the collection, which are visible even when stored. This mobile storage system has been developed to optimize the use of space while facilitating access to objects. The sliding frame structure of the storage panels also gives you the freedom to easily access objects at any time, and even several panels simultaneously.
As each reserve had to be optimized according to the space available, it was unfortunately impossible to hang the entire collection of flatware and paintings on the sliding panels. With the manufacturer Montel, we therefore designed sections of shelving long-range 4D with narrow compartments to efficiently house the rest of the collection.
In the end, the installation of all this equipment from the Quebec manufacturer Montel has provided the company with a state-of-the-art stockpile that will enable the organization to meet its objectives for decades to come!
